A journey through time ... with Bog & idé. In 1968, Flemming Kristiansen applied for membership of an existing purchasing organization, but was turned down. He then teamed up with representative Ole Hansen and founded the purchasing association Bogpa on January 12, 1969. Bookseller Benth Olsson was a co-founder and board member and played a central role in the founding of Bogpa. One of the reasons for the rejection by the other purchasing organization was that Flemming Kristiansen had too many different products in his store. This was the beginning of one of Denmark's best-known voluntary retail chains.

The store has a large selection of books, while the rest consists of office supplies, trend products, toys, board games, puzzles and similar items.

The chain is connected to the chain office Indeks Retail A/S, which also functions as the chain office for BOGhandleren and Legekæden. Legekæden is also located in the store.
