One of Denmark's northernmost wineries

Vennebjerg Vineyard.

Facts about Vennebjerg Vineyard:

Vennebjerg Vineyard is one of Denmark's northernmost wineries. The vineyard is located approx. 3 km from the North Sea close to the coastal town of Lønstrup and Rubjerg Knude Lighthouse. Here, the fresh mineral-rich Western wines are produced.

In the early years, Vennebjerg Vineyard was run as one of Denmark's largest hobby wineries, and is today one of Denmark's smallest commercial wineries.

Climatic conditions:

The West Wind is our friend and enemy.

The sometimes prevailing west wind leaves its mark on the vines, as they often have to fight against the strong west wind.

The west wind that drifts over the field has a protective effect on the vines.

The wind carries the warmth of the sea over the field so that frost is avoided at the critical time around bud break.

The wind keeps the vine and grapes dry throughout the season, reducing the risk of fungal diseases.

The wind carries the sea mist in from the North Sea during the quieter periods, which the vines and grapes benefit from as they absorb the salty minerals and freshness from the North Sea.

Our many hours of sunshine and cool nights in the north give a slow ripening and thus more fruit aromas in the grapes.

Vineyard:

Vennebjerg Vineyard was established in 2011, where the first 100 vines were planted, and in the year 2026 it will reach 800 vines, divided between blue and green grapes, of the varieties Solaris, Rondo, Regent and Bolero.

The vineyard is cultivated according to organic principles, the soil consists of well-drained sandy soil, where fauna stripes with clover have been sown between the vines for the benefit of the climate and wildlife.

The wine is bred without any form of chemical control.

The winery:

After harvesting, the grapes are processed in our own winery according to the principle "As simple as possible"

No chemical adjustments are made to the Western wine, this is a genuine pure, unfiltered and natural wine.

The character of the Western wine varies from year to year, as it is the year's climate that leaves its mark on the wine's sweetness, acidity and aromas. We call it "Summer in a bottle"
